Charlotte is 1 Month Old

Our beautiful baby girl is one month old! It’s been such an amazingly happy, beyond busy, and surprisingly testing month.

The weekend after Charlie was born we hosted our annual girls Christmas party at the house followed by the holidays. A lot of people said we were crazy but we thought it may be easier not taking the little one out in the elements but instead having everyone coming to our house. We wouldn’t take it back but I don’t know that we would host 3 Christmas parties right after having a baby again.

She laughed for the first time while sleeping in Adams arms one night. It was beyond adorable. Then, I got to experience her smile while awake for the first time. It’s so rewarding to go through these milestones again, I can understand why some people have a ton of kids!

Charlotte has been quite the chunk ever since she was born. The cheeks and double chin KILL me 😍 She has been gaining approximately one pound a week these past few weeks. At her one month wellness check, she weighed in at a whopping 11 lbs 6 oz.

She’s had quite a few health issues since her stay at the hospital but I just haven’t been able to put my finger on it yet. Our first thought was colic, but then she started having some gas pains. From there I noticed she started gagging when burping, white on her tongue all the time, pulling off the breast and screaming. All signs of GERD or reflux. She has been put on medication for reflux by her pediatrician, but three days in, it seems to be making things worse. I hate having her on any medication, but having her on one that is not helping anything is only worse. We will be stopping the med tomorrow if it doesn’t change.

Charlotte also has an upper lip tie which could be causing all of her issues. Since she is not latching correctly, she is taking more air in when she eats. Her pediatrician has given me contact information to have it corrected, however, after everything our children have been through this past month, I can’t bring myself to call.

Overall, Charlie is a happy and healthy baby! We thank God for her each and every day! ❤️
