What an amazing day trip we had to Flint, MI today! We visited Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad for the first time ever! As the day approached I contemplated whether or not I should take the day off of work or not. It was about an hour to an hour and a half drive to get home from there and I had to work at 3 pm. I decided not to take the day off.
As we arrived, we saw multiple Thomas the Train welcome signs. Once you enter through the ticket booths, the first thing you see is Thomas the Train parked on the railroad tracks! Myles was so excited… and quite frankly so was I! Thomas is the sweetest looking train I have ever seen and his face actually moved!!!!!
It was about an hour and a half before our boarding time when we arrived so we explored the village a bit before heading back to ride Thomas. In the village, they have many different little stores and villages that are a trip back in time. There is a blacksmith, an ice house, general store, hotel, dentist office, and so so so much more. They even had hand dipped ice cream! Myles was given a “map” with checkpoints to gather along the way. Four checkpoints in total and he was to win a prize. Unfortunately, we ran into checkpoint 4 first so Myles got his prize right away. Oh well. The prize was a three pack of rubber bracelets with Thomas and friends on them.
There was a farm…
A live old school band that all the kids had a blast “assisting”
The village also has all kinds of rides. These rides are not for the faint of heart. It was to our demise that Myles had a mental breakdown on the little kids ride and tried climbing out as it was spinning at 1 million miles per minute. As a mom, I had whichever medical condition would be right under a heart attack. He did enjoy the fastest merry-go-round in the state of Michigan with Grandma, Papa, and Uncle Pat.
There were many other things for the kids to check out. Like the straw maze….
He was so excited at the beginning…. but his excitement soon turned to confusion and frustration when he hit a dead end.
Good thing he had cheerleaders all around him!
Finally, the finish!!
The event gave out coloring books and had bounce houses and bubble stations set up. Myles was even lucky enough to meet Sir Topham Hat.
One of Myles’ favorite parts was getting a matching tattoo with Uncle Pat. He was a little scared at first as he has never had a tattoo before (temporary nor otherwise).
On to the main event… THOMAS THE TRAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He LOVED it! And even got a certificate at the end! GREAT SUCCESS!
Love family time! Next time, hopefully Daddy will be able to join us <3
